Shaping Unitarian Universalist History: The Ministry of Frederick May Eliot
This service helps us to remember the ministry of Dr. Frederick May Eliot, minister of Unity Church from 1917-37 and president of the American Unitarian Association just prior to the merger with the Universalists in 1961. As we make space in our busy lives for what Eliot called a sacred reality, we recall one who illuminated our heritage of faith. Briana Melom will be joined by Worship Associate Sharon Hogenson.

Evil Thrives When Goodness is Silent
Earlier this year a group of neo-Nazis came to Olympia and announced their intentions to return this summer to engage in recruiting efforts. While such groups pose explicit threats to religious, ethnic and sexual minorities, they pose an implicit threat to the entire community's well-being. One lesson to be learned from the development of Nazism in Germany is that evil thrives when goodness turns aside.

I Am Enough
In our society, and even in some of our families, it is easy to get the message that we don't measure up to some unattainable standard of perfection. But our first Unitarian Universalist Principle encourages us to recognize and honor "the inherent worth and dignity of every person." Turning this principle on its head, we may see that each of us deserves the same respect that we are asked to show to others and that we are worthy of that same dignity, even if we are not perfect.

Sacred Spaces
Mary Katherine Morn takes us on a thought provoking and inner visual journey into exploring our own "Sacred Spaces" and their significance and power in our lives. "It is clear to me that there is power greater than myself in places like that... and when I am there I am enlarged. I draw on that power and become more. This is one of the reasons why "Sacred Spaces" are so important in our lives. They can help us become more.

Judge Not, That You Not Be Judged
This ancient wisdom is offered by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount and is reflected in other spiritual traditions as well. What does it mean? Does not life require us to make judgments? Does the sincere religious life handcuff us from doing so? What is the distinction between judgment and judgmentalism?

The Origins of Christianity
Christianity, as it came to be portrayed by the early (and later) Church didn't emerge directly from the teachings of Jesus and his disciples. Instead, it took form over three to four centuries as different understandings of Jesus and his teachings competed for supremacy. One of the most significant contests occurred between conflicting assumptions of Jesus's divine or mortal essence.

Rev. Sinkford explores and questions what your religion is to you. "Is this your religion?....Is yours a religion which must have the freedom to question at its very center...
