| Mother, May I? I think it was Freud who said, "If it's not one thing, it's your mother." Most of us realize that our first idea of God came from our mother, not the Bible. Indeed, perhaps it is why the rediscovery of "The Goddess" has become more popular. |

| With Civility Being in "right relationship" with each other is, I believe, a premise of our life together as a faith community. I can't imagine many disagreeing with such a basic assumption, yet our relationships are tested routinely in our speech, behavior & vision. | Religion as Relationship Almost "Behaving in Church, Part II" I want to examine our relationships in church, at home or work, and especially how we communicate with each other, with our loved ones, yea even our enemies. Even how we think of religion is deeply influenced by our previous relationships. I believe that how we behave is more indicative of what we really believe is important in life and religion. |

| Prove All Things, Hold Fast the Good On May 5th, 1819, William Ellery Channing preached a sermon in Baltimore that laid out the doctrine of early American Unitarianism. His sermon encouraged hearers to "prove all things," and to hold on to what is good, even while discarding the rest. We'll honor his legacy and ask what the sermon still has to teach us today. |
Reverend Nancy McDonald Ladd | Bull Run Unitarian Universalists, Manassas, Virginia | 05/04/2008 |
